About Our Gravel

Gravel is perhaps NotDuneVision's most versatile product. Where sand is specific and topsoil is purposeful, gravel is adaptable — it works for driveways, drainage, decorative landscaping, under slabs, around pipes, and as a general material for situations where you need something firm, drainable, and satisfying to walk on. It makes an excellent sound. We are proud of it.

We source our gravel from Indiana limestone quarries and river aggregate operations, offering both crushed stone products and natural rounded gravel depending on your application. Mitchell can help you select the right grade if you are unsure — and he will, whether you want him to or not.

Gravel Types Available

  • #8 Stone (3/8") — Small crushed limestone ideal for pathways, drainage layers, and under concrete slabs. The most refined of our gravel offerings. Mitchell considers it elegant.
  • #53 Limestone — Mixed-size crushed stone with fines that compact well. Our top choice for driveways, parking areas, and base layers. Packs like a professional.
  • Pea Gravel (3/8" rounded) — Small, smooth, rounded river gravel for landscaping, playgrounds, dog runs, and decorative beds. Comfortable underfoot. Delightful aesthetically.
  • Crusher Run (Recycled) — Mixed crushed material that compacts aggressively. Excellent for driveways on a budget, temporary access roads, and base preparation where cost matters more than appearance.
  • #2 Stone (1.5"–2") — Large crushed stone for French drains, septic systems, and heavy drainage applications. The Stick is especially effective at probing piles of #2 stone.
  • River Rock (Decorative) — Larger, rounded river stone for decorative beds, water features, and erosion control on slopes.

Common Applications

  • Residential and commercial driveway base and surface
  • French drain and drainage swale fill
  • Concrete slab base preparation
  • Landscaping bed edging and ground cover
  • Playground and dog run surfacing (pea gravel)
  • Pipe bedding and utility trench fill
  • Parking lot base construction
  • Erosion control on slopes and banks

Driveway Gravel: A Note From Mitchell

Mitchell surveying a gravel driveway

"A lot of people order whatever gravel is cheapest for their driveway and then wonder why it migrates into their lawn every spring. The correct driveway gravel is #53 limestone as a base layer, compacted, with a top dressing of #8 or pea gravel if you want a finer surface. This is not complicated but it is also not what you find on the internet. It is what I tell you when you call. Please call."
